Our board

Koonibba Community is managed by Koonibba Community Aboriginal Corporation (originally incorporated in 1975) and its board of directors, who employ the administration, which is made of local Aboriginal community members and non-Aboriginal persons with specific skills that support in managing approximately 5,000 hectares of traditional Indigenous lands.

The Corporation under the management of Corey McLennan CEO currently provides several services and programs for the community.

Edwin Peel

Chairperson
Descendant of original inhabitants of Koonibba, has just been elected for a two-year term. Edwin wants Koonibba to aim for self-sustainability and support the employment of community members

Derek Gray

Deputy Chairperson
Descendant of original family of Koonibba,
Employed by Job Network Agency, and wants to improve the employment of Aboriginal people in the region.

Kevina Ware

Secretary
Manages Youth Programs, previous Chairperson for 9 years. Wants to continue developing economic programs, was instrumental in working with the space agency and the establishment of Koonibba as a rocket test range.

Ashley Peel

Director
Descendant of original inhabitants of Koonibba, amongst Ashley’s many skills he has added traffic zone management and is a valuable member of the Rocket test program.

Randy Gray

Director
Descendant of original family of Koonibba, has a high level of education and works for Employment Plus assisting other Aboriginal participants in achieving employment

Fantasia Laughton

Director
A descendant of one of the original families of Koonibba, she has just been elected for a further 2 years. Fantasia is keen to review current policies and aims and goals.

Charilee Peel

Director
Descendant of original family of Koonibba, the youngest and latest additional to the board of management, one of her goals is to have the current childcare centre increased in size to enable operation at its full potential. She is employed in childcare.
